Tru x Team Gleed Jones Partnership

If you haven’t already heard… where have you been?

We’re so excited to share that at the start of the year Tru Talent chose to partner with Team Gleed & Jones to support them on their journey to the Beach Volleyball championships at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games this July.

Harry Jones and Niko Gleed have just returned from Florida where they have been away for one of their first training camps of the year. It sounds like heaven doesn’t it, but Harry and Niko assure us it hasn’t all been sunshine and cocktails on the beach. The guys have worked tirelessly through their 6-week training camp, in the face of setbacks and some surprisingly treacherous weather but this hasn’t stopped them, not even slowed them down on their path to the Commonwealth Games.

You might be wondering why Harry and Niko needed to go all the way to Florida for training camps and competitions when they have a perfectly good beach and volleyball facilities here in their hometown of Bournemouth.

The guys shared that going away to training camps is about much more than just increasing the volume of play and training in a different environment, it's about entering a state of total immersion in their chosen sport away from the usual distractions of life. It's a dedicated time to increase and finely tune their physical ability while adding extra psychological layers to their game also. Elite athletes use these training camps to forge ever-stronger bonds with their teammates and have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and understanding of their sport by working with world-class coaches and learning from other elite-level athletes.

All the hard work, tireless training, and dedication towards their commonwealth goal is already paying off as the guys have just won their first competition following their Florida training camp. This win is an essential step towards qualifying for the Birmingham Commonwealth games and ultimately securing that much-coveted gold medal. We’re so proud of the work and success Harry and Niko are seeing so far on their journey and we know they will continue to dominate their path to the games.

It may seem like an unusual partnership for us here at Tru Talent to enter into, after all what has elite level sport got to do with recruitment? Tru Talent’s mission has and will always be far greater than just placing great people in great jobs. Its guiding principles to Grow, Empower and Nurture are deeply instilled in the team and all that the company does thanks to MD Toni Taylor and her vision to inspire others and elevate not only her local community but a wider audience to believe in themselves and know that they can achieve their dreams one step at a time. The partnership with Team Gleed Jones is a living example of this, in Toni’s words “I believed the partnership with Team Gleed Jones could be more than just supporting Harry and Niko in their dream to achieve success at the commonwealth games but to use this partnership as a platform to encourage and inspire all those who join us on this journey to see first hand that you can achieve your goals and dreams one step at a time.”

We would love you to join us on this journey with Harry and Niko. You can stay up to do date on all their movements and get an unprecedented peek behind the curtain of what it really looks like to be an elite-level athlete. We’ll share all the highs and the lows, the challenges and the triumphs at every step as well as some very exciting events and opportunities to come later in the year.
