Workshop Controller

Location: Manchester
Salary: £40,000 + additional bonus

Job Description:
Our client is looking to recruit an experienced Workshop Controller to oversee the day-to-day operations within their bodyshop. This is a hands-on leadership role, ensuring the smooth running of all repair work, maintaining high quality standards, and delivering excellent customer service.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the bodyshop operates efficiently and profitably by managing workflows, supporting the team, and ensuring repairs are completed on time and to the highest standards.

Responsibilities of a Workshop Controller – Bodyshop:

  • Coordinate and manage the daily workload within the bodyshop to meet productivity and efficiency targets.

  • Ensure all repairs are completed to manufacturer and company standards.

  • Monitor work progress and provide clear communication between technicians, front-of-house staff, and customers.

  • Actively manage relationships with work providers and suppliers.

  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and PAS125 standards.

  • Support, mentor, and manage the performance of the bodyshop team.

  • Deliver financial results in line with agreed budgets by optimising resources and controlling costs.

Skills and Qualifications of a Workshop Controller – Bodyshop:

  • Proven experience in a similar role within a bodyshop environment.

  • Strong leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate a team and delegate effectively.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • A good understanding of estimating systems, with Audatex experience being highly desirable.

  • A full UK driving licence.

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and compliance standards relevant to a bodyshop.
